Yes to the self-objectifying. I wrote about that a while back, but can’t remember now what story it was in. It’s definitely a problem when women only define themselves by patriarchal standards of what is acceptable and attractive. I went through a period where I stopped wearing make-up become none of my friends did anymore. After a while, I went back to it — not wearing make-up because society says so is just as bad as wearing it because society says you should. It took me some time, but I figured out what worked for me.
