You're kind of making my point for me - the fact that you think you get to decide what makes for a good person based on metrics you've decided is condescending. The people I know don't remotely think they've sold their soul. They actually think they picked the candidate that was better for their families. I think they're deluded about that, but being mistaken is not the same as being evil.
