You're right, it's not good enough that 1 in 3 women will be raped, that 50% of women who are murdered are killed by current or former domestic partners, that 85% of women started getting sexually harassed as children, that 90% of the sort of domestic violence that is about control is perpetrated by men against women, that when #MeToo broke, most men didn't feel bad about that, they lashed out at the suffering and called it lies. All of those things are directly correlated to a culture where the norms of masculinity encourage violent domination of others and control of women as part of being "a real man." Unless you are actively participating in dismantling those norms, and improving those horrendous statistics, you are a part of the problem. And so is anyone else, male or female, who is not taking that stuff on. Period. End of story!
