You've made some really good points, but social media is a part of our culture, particularly for teens, and so if one of the major players is reinforcing the negative aspects of a patriarchal culture, it will have an adverse effect. Instagram did not create this problem, but it is capitalizing on it, to the detriment of girls in particular. What kids learn at home is critical, but that's often not enough to counter-act what they are fed by the rest of the culture, of which social media is a primary source. It's absolutely appropriate to call Zuck on this one.
