Of course, you can be a lonely awkward guy who doesn't feel entitled to anything, but those aren't incels. That term implies misogyny, it implies entitlement. Words have particular meanings in the culture and there is no way to "rebrand" that term.

Besides, you can acquire the skills, you can hire sex workers, you can try to meet and date women in your league (and not the hot, blonde, cheerleaders that Elliot Roger thought were owed to him so he killed them). The implication of "involuntary" is that they have no agency whatsoever and this was something terrible done to them by women against their will. It's a destructive thought paradigm that is highly linked to the extreme levels of violent misogyny that incels subscribe to.
